Blood Dungeon Bounce Balls and Basketball
Ricochet plus count, not one fat marble. Life Insurance wants twenty balls in play at once.
PC Gamer’s favourite tool for first bosses in Blood Dungeon is the bouncing ball. Focus upgrades on it and early bosses fall in seconds. Game Informer called the same toy a basketball that sends a flurry of orange balls bouncing through the room, and admitted rerolling until that card and a double-everything upgrade showed. Steam names the trophy Life Insurance: have 20 bouncing Bounce balls active together. This page is that toy. It is not a full weapons table and it is not a promise every chest contains basketball.
The game launched 25 August 2026 as single-player only. You pick one bunkmate, enter one arena, and let auto-fire work. Bounce balls are a coverage weapon: they occupy space you already left. That is why they shred long bodies such as Wyrm while you keep the Catacombs loop. 9Puz’s Leech notes: do not chase the head into a pocket; let the body cross the working area. Ricochet does that job if the count is high enough.
What the trophies actually ask
Life Insurance is a simultaneous-count check. Favour ball count, persistence, reload, and duplicated projectiles. Avoid effects that delete the balls before the stack forms. That is the opposite of a single fat marble. Synergies treat ricochet plus count as the combo. Gold rerolls (Aftermath) are how you fish when the hand is noise.
Reviews also mention volleyball in the same bouncing family. Treat “basketball / bounce balls / volleyball” as one identity until a tooltip splits them. This wiki will not invent three separate DPS tables.
How to build toward bounce
- Learn cling in Catacombs on Gun Man or Barbarian — Getting Started. You cannot aim bounce; you route so the room is a pinball machine.
- Open a second weapon slot at the Dogmancer. Bounce plus an orbit or a laser covers the pack that reached you while balls are still bouncing the far wall.
- At level-up, take bounce upgrades over a third unrelated gun. Count and persistence beat a random charm whose condition is never true. Charms.
- For Life Insurance, stay in a dense room long enough for twenty to exist at once. StimGun (fifty kills in one second) is a different density trophy on Achievements.
- Boss nights: keep the loop. First bosses in Catacombs and Pit are where PC Gamer’s “seconds” claim is honest. Later arenas add water and mining geometry; bounce still works if the room has walls. Flood wants Leggy or Bug for the body, not as a replacement for balls.
Loadouts should list bounce as a boss and add line, not as a movement trait. It is not Skinja’s shotgun and not Hypnomancer’s gas. Any bunkmate can hold it once it is in the pool.
What this page will not say
No bounce DPS. No “always drops from the red chest.” No claim that double-everything is a bounce-only card — Game Informer rerolled for it as a general multiplier. Messhof’s news titles are hotfix and hotfix 2. Crashes: Troubleshooting. Keys: Chests & Keys. Leech is still a Wyrm-under-30-seconds achievement, which bounce helps, not a bunkmate.
Bounce balls are the ricochet thesis: fill the room, keep the loop, stack count until Life Insurance pops. Then keep a second gun so a quiet wall is not a dead build.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Are bounce balls the same as basketball?
Reviews use bouncing ball, basketball, and volleyball for the ricochet toy. Steam’s Life Insurance names Bounce balls. Treat them as one family until a tooltip splits them.
How do I get Life Insurance?
Have 20 Bounce balls active at once. Favour count, persistence, reload, and duplicated projectiles. Do not pick effects that remove the balls.
Are bounce balls good for bosses?
PC Gamer called them a first-boss shredder. Keep the loop and let a long body such as Wyrm cross the bouncing area.
Do I need a specific bunkmate?
No. Any bunkmate can hold bounce balls once they are in the pool. Flight and webs still help you stay alive while the balls work.
