Blood Dungeon Powder Keg

Powder Keg is one of two names Messhof put in a Steam news post the day after Blood Dungeon launched. The 26 August 2026 note titled hotfix lists “fixed some bugs with Powder Keg and Revivalist” in the same bullet as memory leaks, leaderboard digits, Daily Bone Shop powers, and more frequent saves. This wiki treats Powder Keg as a named bunkmate filling one of the two roster slots that store copy, trailers, and launch reviews left blank. It does not invent a default weapon, a Bone Shop price, or an arena gate.

Nine bunkmates ship. Seven were already public: Gun Man, Barbarian, Skinja, Baby, Hypnomancer, Leggy, Bug. Revivalist is the other hotfix name. Full kits that are published live on Bunkmates. Hedged ranks: Character Tier List. Unlock methods that we can actually cite: Unlock Characters.

Why the name showed up in patch notes first

Public marketing named webs, flight, and a naked ninja. It did not walk the last two beds. A day-one hotfix that names Powder Keg is how those beds entered the public record without a store-page rewrite. That is a messy way to meet a character. It is still better than a fan nickname.

IGN’s preview with Mark Essen said he wanted a big character with a big hitbox and a big weapon to pay for it. A powder keg is a barrel of explosive. The joke fits. This page still will not write “starts with dynamite” or “unlock in Tombs” until the bunkhouse tooltip or a later Messhof post says so. Essen also said some characters started as drawings without a thesis. Powder Keg may be the big-body joke, or it may be a loadout name that happens to sit on a bunk. Until the client labels the bed, keep both readings open and play the kit in front of you.

What the hotfix implies for play

Bugs at launch are not flavour. If Powder Keg felt broken on 25 August — wrong collision, a stuck animation, a weapon that did not fire — the 26 August client is the one to use. Launch Notes quote the Steam bullets. There was no second Powder Keg-only post; hotfix 2 was Revivalist-only (“for real this time”). If your issue was Revivalist, that second note matters more.

Do not assume Powder Keg is “the explosion character” in the same way Hypnomancer is gas. Explosionist is a Steam achievement (refuse five upgrades in one run), not a bunkmate. Candlemaker is “come back from the dead,” which belongs in the Revivalist conversation, not here.

How to use Powder Keg in a run

When the bunkhouse offers Powder Keg, treat the first sessions like any unknown kit:

1. Learn cling on Gun Man or Barbarian in Catacombs first — Getting Started.
2. Open Powder Keg in a familiar arena, not on a Daily seed you cannot steer — Daily Dungeon.
3. Watch the default fire for one wave before you spend a rare card.
4. If the body is large, give yourself more wall than you would on Skinja. A big hitbox is a published design goal for some bunkmate; whether this is that bunkmate is still a hedge.
5. Bank Bones as usual at the Dogmancer. A hotfix does not refund a bad shop night.

Shared pool still matters. Unlocking anyone can add a default to drops for everyone else. Hypnomancer’s gas after the second Boiler boss is the clean example. When Powder Keg’s default is named in a tooltip, update this page — until then, do not copy a Discord screenshot as gospel.

Related systems

• Streamer Mode — Powder Keg is not why the nude toggle exists (Barbarian and Skinja are).
• Leaderboards — same hotfix fixed cut-off placement numbers; that is not a Powder Keg buff.
• Achievements — Bunkhouse still wants every bunkhouse character on every named level. If Powder Keg is in your client, that grid just got a new column. Leech is still a Wyrm speed kill, not this bunkmate.
• Movement — walls, ceilings, water. No published Powder Keg-only traversal.

Single-player only. Released 25 August 2026. If a later news post lists a weapon or an unlock fight, it will land on Launch Notes and this page together. Until then, the honest sentence is: Powder Keg is real, patched on day two, and still waiting for a public kit card.
