Blood Dungeon Enemies Guide

Every enemy type, attack pattern, and how to counter it.

Last updated:

Blood Dungeon contains over 100 enemy types. This guide covers the major enemy categories and notable individual enemies that appear across the six arenas. Knowing enemy patterns is essential for positioning and survival — this knowledge compounds run over run.

Enemy categories

Standard enemies

Standard enemies are the backbone of the enemy roster. They walk, bounce, or fly toward you and have straightforward attack patterns.

  • Bats — fly in arcs toward the player. Easy to dodge but appear in large numbers late in runs
  • Rats — ground-level swarm enemies. Low individual threat but overwhelming in groups
  • Slimes — bounce toward the player. Telegraph their bounce direction with a squat animation

Elite enemies

Elites have more health, deal more damage, and have more complex attack patterns.

  • Centaurs — fast-moving ranged attackers. Stop to fire a projectile then resume movement. Use their stationary window to deal damage
  • Armoured knights — high-defense enemies that require sustained damage to kill. Focus fire or use area weapons
  • Exploding Eyeballs — detonate on death, damaging nearby players. Kill at range or position away from clusters

Flying enemies

Flying enemies move through walls and ceilings, making them harder to kite than ground-based threats.

  • Some fly directly toward the player
  • Some patrol fixed paths and only aggro when the player enters their range
  • In tight corridors, flying enemies can be more dangerous than ground enemies because they bypass wall-based positioning

Boss enemies

Each arena has three bosses. See the Beat Bosses guide for detailed boss strategies.

General enemy strategies

Kiting — the primary strategy against most enemies. Move perpendicular to their approach direction while your weapons fire. In open arenas, continuous movement prevents clustering.

Wall positioning — position on walls or ceilings above ground-level enemies. Most enemies cannot follow you onto vertical surfaces, giving you safe firing angles.

Area denial — use area weapons (Grenade, Gas Grenade) to create safe zones in high-density clusters. Enemies that walk through the zone take damage and may die before reaching you.

Priority targeting — in high-density waves, prioritise:

  1. Ranged attackers (Centaurs) — they deal damage from range
  2. Elite enemies — they absorb significant fire if not dealt with
  3. Flying enemies — they bypass wall positioning
  4. Swarm enemies — individually weak but dangerous in numbers

Notable enemies

The Giant Worm — a boss-tier enemy with a charge attack. Telegraphs the charge with a wind-up animation. Dodge perpendicular to the charge direction. Appears in later arena runs.

Mummy — later rooms can spawn wrapped enemies that leave a dangerous trail. Public materials do not publish a full pattern sheet. Kill them at range and step off any trail they drop.

Dark Knight — a heavily armoured elite. Sustained damage from ranged weapons is the most effective approach. Area weapons work well when clustered.

Arena-specific enemies

Different arenas feature different enemy compositions:

  • Flood arena — enemies adapted to water environments; some can swim or create water hazards
  • Boiler arena — enemies with fire-based attacks; area denial is especially valuable here
  • Advanced arenas — tougher enemy compositions with faster spawn rates and higher density

Arena enemy compositions should be verified through gameplay as the community maps them.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many enemy types are in Blood Dungeon?

Blood Dungeon features over 100 different enemy types across its six arenas, ranging from standard bats and rats to elite centaurs and arena-specific bosses.

How do I deal with flying enemies?

Use ranged weapons (Machine Gun, Laser) to shoot them down, or position yourself on walls and ceilings where they cannot follow. Bug's flight trait also lets you engage flying enemies directly.

What is the Giant Worm?

The Giant Worm is a boss-tier enemy that appears in later arena runs. It has a charge attack telegraphed by a wind-up animation. Dodge perpendicular to the charge direction.

Are Exploding Eyeballs dangerous?
