Blood Dungeon Pit Arena

The Y-axis well after Catacombs: falling, ceiling runs, and Murderist at the end.

Last updated:

Pit is the second story arena in Blood Dungeon. You reach it by beating the first boss of Catacombs — the Pit achievement. Reviewers describe a Y-axis pit, an endless well more than a hallway. The job is vertical navigation: climbing, falling on purpose, catching a wall, and using the ceiling as a lane. The game is out as of 25 August 2026 and this map is solo. There is no extra queue hiding behind the well.

Layouts stay mostly fixed. You can learn which lips are safe, which shafts are death funnels, and which ceilings are highways. Keys and items still wander, so a perfect Catacombs route does not paste onto Pit. Hidden chests often sit on ledges you only see after a controlled drop or a ceiling crawl.

Unlock and the chain onward

The six story maps follow a first-boss chain: Catacombs, Pit, Corridor, Boiler, Tombs, Flood. The Corridor achievement is the first Pit boss. That kill opens Corridor even if Murderist is still waiting. Do not treat the Daily Dungeon as the next story beat; Vampire Ring is a daily-mode challenge, not arena seven.

Cross-check names on Achievements and keep the hub list on the Arenas Hub. If you bounced out of Catacombs the moment Pit opened, come back later for Decoy and the timed Wyrm / Bone Snake challenges. Pit does not delete that homework.

Vertical movement

Catacombs taught wall stick. Pit grades you on recovery. A fall is a tool if you grab a face before the pack at the bottom closes. A fall is a wipe if you treat gravity like a cutscene. Practice dropping one screen, catching a wall, then climbing past the bats that followed you down. Ceiling travel lets you skip a crowded floor and re-enter above a centaur pause.

The Movement guide is the reference. Pit is the exam. Bug’s flight, when you have it, skips some drowning-style drops in later water maps; here it is a panic button for bad falls. Leggy webs can make temporary rungs in a shaft, but they are not required to enter Pit. Gun Man still works: the machine gun keeps firing while you correct a climb. Skinja’s ground speed is worth less in a well than in a hallway. Barbarian swords cover anything that lands on you mid-climb. Baby’s magnum still rewards holding a distant ledge.

Combat in a well

Enemies from the early roster still apply. Bats become nastier when the arena is a chimney: they occupy the air you wanted as an escape. Centaurs on ledges force you to choose between eating a shot and leaving cover. Exploding eyeballs at the bottom of a shaft punish greedy drops. Use the Enemies page for types; use Pit to learn not to fight on the floor if the ceiling is free.

Kiting is vertical. Move perpendicular to a charge by stepping onto a wall, not by sprinting along a missing X-axis. If a pack owns the well, leave through a side alcove rather than tanking the fall. That patience is what Corridor will later turn into horizontal kiting along a long hall.

Bosses you can name

Do not invent extra titles.

  • The first Pit boss is the Corridor achievement and the unlock for Corridor.
  • Murderist is the final Pit boss.

Other Pit mid-fights are not named here. For general boss habits — telegraphs, when to climb, when to drop — read Beat Bosses. Polygon’s Bone Dragon stays unassigned; this page does not claim it lives in the well.

Loadouts without overclaiming

You may still be on Gun Man. That is fine. Pair whatever second weapon you find with a plan for looking up. Shotgun (Skinja) shines when a ledge fight is close. Magnum (Baby) shines when you hold a far lip. Hypnomancer gas is a Boiler unlock on the second boss of that map, so do not expect a starter Pit run to open with a poison cloud. See Bunkmates, Weapons, and Loadouts. Bank Bones at the Dogmancer if falls are ending runs before bosses appear.

Chests and leaving for Corridor

Search ledges after drops. A chest that looks unreachable from the floor is often a two-climb problem, not a missing item. When your goal is the next map, beat the first Pit boss and go to Corridor. When your goal is Murderist, learn one safe ceiling loop and one recovery wall, then spend the extra minutes. Pit is live, solo, and the hinge between Catacombs’ classroom and Corridor’s long kite.
