Blood Dungeon Weapons Tier List

Every weapon ranked with damage profiles, upgrade paths, and synergies.

Last updated:

Blood Dungeon has over 100 weapons and upgrades. This tier list covers the weapon types and specific weapons that are currently considered strongest in high-wave runs, based on damage output, ease of use, upgrade scaling, and build synergy.

Tier S — Best weapons

These weapons have high damage output, good scaling with upgrades, and strong standalone performance.

Laser The Laser is a high single-target damage weapon that fires a focused beam. It is the premier boss-killing weapon because its sustained damage output during vulnerable windows is unmatched. Upgrade path: damage > fire rate > reload speed. Works with every character.

Machine Gun A steady rate-of-fire weapon with good range. The Machine Gun is the most consistent all-rounder — it handles adds, chips down bosses, and does not require positioning to be effective. Upgrade path: fire rate > damage > projectile count. Excellent for beginners.

Magnum Baby’s default weapon and one of the strongest standalone weapons in the game. High damage per shot, long range, and no build synergy required. Upgrade path: damage > reload speed. Found as a default weapon on Baby and in the weapon drop pool.

Tier A — Strong weapons

These weapons are strong but have specific conditions or tradeoffs.

Whip A melee-range circling weapon that protects your immediate surroundings. The whip requires no positioning skill to be effective and handles close-range encounters automatically. Pairs well with any ranged weapon for a complete loadout. Upgrade path: damage > attack speed.

Shotgun Short-range spread damage. Effective at close range against clustered enemies but weak at range. Best used with a character that can close distance or as part of a loadout that handles close-range encounters specifically. Upgrade path: damage > spread count.

Grenade Area-denial weapon that detonates after a delay or on impact. Excellent for boss add control and corridor defence. The Grenade’s AOE damage makes it one of the best weapons for high-density wave phases. Upgrade path: damage > blast radius > cooldown.

Gas Grenade (Hypnomancer’s default) Creates a lingering damage zone in an area. Effective in chokepoints and corridors where enemies must walk through the cloud. Less effective in open arenas. Unlocked by completing the Boiler arena second boss quest (unlock the Hypnomancer first). Upgrade path: damage > radius > duration.

Tier B — Viable weapons

Sword A blade that circles at melee range. Similar to the whip but with a slightly different damage profile. Functional but not exceptional without significant upgrade investment.

Dual Swords (Barbarian’s default) Two swords that circle the Barbarian at close range. Solid default weapon that requires no build investment. Less effective than the whip at general melee coverage without upgrades.

Web Guns (Leggy’s default) Primarily a movement tool. The webs can be climbed and work underwater in the Flood arena. As a weapon, the webs are average — Leggy’s value is in her movement trait, not her default weapon’s raw damage.

Weapon synergy

Some upgrades scale specifically with weapon type:

  • Fire rate upgrades — best on rapid-fire weapons (Machine Gun)
  • Damage upgrades — best on high-damage weapons (Laser, Magnum)
  • Projectile count — best on single-target weapons to create spread
  • Reload speed — most valuable on weapons with long reloads (Shotgun, Magnum)

Builds should focus upgrades on one primary weapon rather than spreading across multiple weapons. A fully upgraded Machine Gun is more powerful than two half-upgraded weapons.

Finding weapons

Weapons are found as random drops during runs and as default weapons for characters. Some weapons are locked behind character unlocks — the character’s default weapon only enters the drop pool after that character is unlocked.

The Bunkmates page explains which characters unlock which weapons for the drop pool.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best weapon in Blood Dungeon?

The Laser is currently considered the best weapon for boss damage due to its sustained high single-target output. The Machine Gun is the best all-rounder for general play.

How do I find the Gas Grenade?

The Gas Grenade is the Hypnomancer's default weapon. Unlock the Hypnomancer by defeating the second boss in the Boiler arena, and the Gas Grenade enters the global weapon drop pool.

Should I upgrade one weapon or spread upgrades across multiple?

Focus all upgrades on your primary weapon. A fully upgraded Machine Gun outperforms two half-upgraded weapons.

What weapons work best for beginners?

The Machine Gun and Magnum are recommended for beginners because they are effective without requiring specific build synergy or positioning skills.
